Dick’s Roof Repair Service – Giving Back to Kenosha

April 17, 2017

There is something about people who make a living making sure people have a roof over their heads. It is rewarding work that makes you feel good that you are helping people have a better quality of life.

It should not be surprising then, that Dick’s Roof Repair Service is a community leader in sharing the wealth of their business with Kenosha individuals and organizations.

Dick’s has been a fixture in Kenosha since 1957. There are very few, if any, local not-for-profit organizations that haven’t benefited from their charitable endeavors. In some cases, Dick’s employees are visible as volunteers. In others, they make monetary donations. They’ve even been known to provide roofing or building services to organizations who otherwise may not have been able to afford them.

Dick’s employees live in Kenosha. Their children go to Kenosha schools and their families attend Kenosha churches.

One of the local charities that has benefited greatly from Dick’s Roof Repair’ s contributions is the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. On April 22 the Dairy State Beer & Cheese Festival will be held at the Brat Stop. Each year, since it’s inception, Dick’s has sponsored a beer-pouring booth at this great event and they’ll be in attendance again this April.

In addition, Dick’s is an annual donor to the Club through the Circle of Impact program. One of the owners of Dick’s, Jeff Milkie, is a long-time board member at the Boys & Girls Club and has been coaching football there for many, many years. Jeff goes back to the time when the organization was known as the CYC.

Jeff served on the board’s facilities committee when the club’s great new headquarters on 52nd Street was built. His expertise proved to be a valuable asset in that huge and complex project. Dick’s also replaced the concessions building roof at CYC park, with materials donated by ABC Supply.

In addition, Jeff has also served as the Executive Director of the Kenosha Small Fry Basketball program for many years. Small Fry Basketball provides an opportunity for boys and girls who are shorter in stature to excel in the game of basketball.

More recently, Dick’s has been helping the son of one of their customers with his Eagle Scout project. The project entails revamping the baseball fields at Forest Park so they can be used for the Wisconsin Shores Challenge League. Wisconsin Shores is a special baseball league created for individuals in our community who are cognitively or physically disabled. Both adults and children are welcomed and served. Dick’s is providing the roofing material for the remaining dugout improvements.

No other local roofing company is as deeply committed to giving back to Kenosha as Dick’s Roof Repair is. They live by the motto “we live here too” and it is not surprising that Dick’s Roof Repair Service has been chosen the past couple of years as the top roofing company in Kenosha, as voted in a Kenosha News annual “Best of Kenosha” contest.

Keeping a roof over the heads of Kenosha families speaks to something different than just being in business. Dick’s is a company that Kenoshans can turn to for much more than their roofing and siding needs. Dick’s is there to support of all of the causes and projects that make Kenosha great!
